Treasures of the heart

  • WORD ALIVE

    LUMC's New Fall Teaching Service

8:30 AM SUNDAYS IN ASBURY HALL

Would you like to receive bible teaching each week set in a relaxed worship setting? Then Word Alive is for you!

Our Senior Pastor, Joe Fort, will be the primary teacher in this new study and worship offering at Lakewood United Methodist Church. Word Alive will take place each Sunday morning at 8:30 am in Asbury Hall. The Reverend Fort will bring an expository bible lesson every week. In addition, we will sing uplifting hymns and worship songs at each service.

Word Alive will be designed to be a meaningful study and worship opportunity for persons of all ages. It will be a chance for you to dive deeper into the Word of God and grow in your walk with Jesus Christ. This service will be geared to end prior to the 9:30 Sanctuary service and Sunday Schoo, and nursery care for young children will be available during the hour, . Be looking in the weeks ahead for more on Word Alive ... and be in prayer as to whether this opportunity might be made to order for your spiritual life!

October is Lakewood’s Month of Stewardship Emphasis

In the past month, our Lakewood UMC family has been an example of Christ by reaching out through

service to our disaster-affected neighbors. Our hearts are with our community as we continue to help

each other recover, renew, and rebuild.

During the month of October, we are inviting each of you to prayerfully consider opportunities of

stewardship by means of the resources the Lord has given us. We will also strive to renew our

individual vows to support our congregation with our prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.

Our God is an extravagant God. In all of this, no blessing exceeds that of the grace which extends

to each of us by way of the cross of Jesus Christ.

Over the next few weeks, please check your mail, email, newsletter, and our church social media pages

for information about this special time of reflection and commitment. You will be receiving a letter from

Pastor Joe Fort, along with your 2018 “Treasures Of The Heart” Stewardship Commitment Card. Join us in

fervent prayer as we ask the Lord to multiply that which we have to give, and to give from the heart.

Our Commitment Sunday will be October 22. Please bring your card to service and share in a special

service of commitment, as we give over in faith to God so that He may multiply our resources to further His kingdom.

At Lakewood, we desire to be a community that invites others into a life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ by embodying God’s love and grace to the world. Our focus is on reaching, growing, and serving as disciples of Jesus Christ who are committed to making a difference in the world. We believe that this happens as we are REACHING, GROWING and SERVING together.
