    Update from April 23 Weekend:


    Teams from Lakewood met at Cypress UMC at 8:30 am for training & to be dispatched. Thank you to the 20+ members who worked in area neighborhoods on Saturday! Thank you to the Visions and Pathfinders Sunday School Classes, Choir Team, and members of Jack Aulick's work teams who also worked this weekend in area homes.

    Volunteer Opportunities: Week of April 25


    Our communion rail offering this Sunday, May 1st, will be dedicated to the flood relief.


    Lakewood UMC has teams working in nearby neighborhoods to remove sheetrock and haul debris to the street. If you are interested in working on a team, please RSVP to Jack at zjwa02@comcast.net.


    We are collecting supplies for flood relief at the church: please bring trash bags, cleaning supplies, diapers, blankets, formula, and cereal. Thank you! For more information, contact Betty Christian at betty.christian@lakeowodumc.org.


    Lakewood has flood buckets ready for distribution. If you know someone in need, please come by the church to pick some up to distribute. They will also be distributed with meals on Saturday, April 30 to nearby neighborhoods. For more information, contact Dori McAnulty at dori.mcanulty@lakewoodumc.org.


    Thank you to Food4Friends who have prepared frozen casseroles available to give to those in need; they may be picked up from the church kitchen. If you are interested in volunteering in this effort, contact Melanie Chaya at melanie.chaya@gmail.com.

    Saturday, April 30


    Lakewood Men's Group will be cooking 200 hamburger and hotdog meals to be distributed in nearby Norchester Village neighborhood. Volunteers are needed to help cook and distribute meals. For more information contact Dave at dthrockmorton1@comcast.net. Thank you to Food4Friends who baked hundreds of cookies to be delivered with the meals!


    Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) is also organizing many efforts directed toward the flood victims in our area. They also have opportunities for volunteer service. If you are interested in assisting with NAM's work, please contact Lakewood member Kim Eby at me4closure@att.net.

    spring hymn festival MOVED TO MAY 22

    NEW DATE: MAY 22 AT 4:00 PM

    Lakewood Music Ministries will present a Spring Hymn Festival in the Sanctuary at 4:00 pm on May 22. Ensembles will perform arrangements of traditional hymns, as well as a congregational favorites sing-along. For more information please contact greg.gathright@lakewoodumc.org
