    AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS ADVENT MUSICAL

    Tickets for the Advent Production of Amahl and the Night Visitors are on sale in the Commons though November 26. This heartwarming classic will be presented by Lakewood Music Ministries on November 30 and December 1 at 7:00 pm, and December 2 at 2:00 pm in a special children's matinee. All performances are in Asbury Hall. Tickets are $10.00 for adults and $6.00 for students. Children under 6 are free. Proceeds to benefit Harvey Disaster Relief.

If you have been out of town, or have yet to turn in your card, please take a moment to complete it this week.     SERENDIPITY BUS TRIP

    Serendipity, our 50+ Ministry, will be traveling to Moody Gardens on Tuesday, December 12, to view the exciting ice sculptures, enjoy a four-entree buffet dinner and stroll the Christmas-lighted gardens. Bus leaves the LUMC at 1:30 pm and returns around 9:00 pm. Cost including everything in $40. The 39 seats go on sale November 26 and December 3 in the Commons, FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE.     2018 UMW GARAGE SALE - FEBRUARY 10

    We would like to take this opportunity to provide a few details about the 2018 UMW Garage Sale. The 2018 UMW Garage Sale will be February 10th, with set up starting the prior Sunday, February 4th, so remember to mark your calendars! We have several volunteer opportunities available, including men for larger lifting. Please email umwgaragesale@gmail.com if interested. 


    GARAGE SALE: STORAGE UNITS

    Storage units are available, at Lakewood Mini Storage, 12126 Louetta. We will be accepting furniture in good condition, working appliances, working electronics, and large estate donations. There are a few options for donations:

    - Option One: If possible, please hold donations until the week of the garage sale.

    - Option Two: Arrangements may be made to drop them off at Lakewood Mini Storage (email  

              umwgaragesale@gmail.com or call Julie Cooper at 281-898-8725)

    - Option Three: Make arrangements with the U-Call/We-Haul team to have donations picked up at your house and then taken to the storage units (email umwgaragesale@gmail.com or call Stacey White at 713-548-4546). Pick-ups are available on Saturday and must be arranged by the prior Wednesday. 

    This is a great mission opportunity for the Lakewood UMW to help women and children in our community and beyond. We need all of you to make the 2018 UMW Garage Sale a continued success!

    Stephen Ministers are trained members of our congregation that provide emotional and spiritual support to those dealing with a crisis or difficult time.     Second Family offers home-centered support with fellowship and practical help to people facing chronic illness, injury, loneliness, and respite for their care-givers. To learn more about receiving care or volunteering, please contact Pastor Pam Cline.


    THE GATHERING PLACE

    The Gathering Place is a safe setting for people with mild to moderate memory loss to be active and participate in fellowship with caring trained volunteers. To learn more about attending or volunteering for this monthly ministry, please contact Pastor Pam Cline.

    2018 KENYA MISSION TRIP MEETING

    LUMC will be sending a mission team to Kenya from July 11-27, 2018. The team will go to support the Maua Methodist Hospital and the Velosia KBC Orphanage. There will be a Mission informational meeting at noon on December 3, in Founders Court.     ANNUAL VETERAN'S APPRECIATION & NOVEMBER MONTHLY MEETING:

    The November Monthly Dinner Meeting and annual Veteran’s Appreciation for the Men’s Group will be Thursday, November 30, at 7:00 pm in Founders Court. The speaker will be our own Curt Pedder, a retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel and Pastor. Curt is also a retired Lutheran minister who is now a member of our church.     SAGER BROWN MISSION UPDATE

    Thank you to our Lakewood UMC Mission Team for your service!

    During the week of November 5-10, 2017, a team from Lakewood UMC served in the Sager Brown facility in Baldwin, LA. Our team of 19 volunteers worked with other volunteers, including people from Iowa, Arkansas, Washington state and Texas. We also served with an amazing permanent staff at Sager Brown, and three long-term volunteers.

    MATTHEW 25:35

    Matthew 25:35 will be helping 85 families this holiday season. These families live within 5 miles of our church and most have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

    How you can help:

    - Purchase food for Thanksgiving dinners (no turkeys)

    - Donate $10 and $15 grocery store gift cards

    - Purchase food for Christmas dinners

    - Purchase toys for children

    - Cash donations and we will shop for you

    SAY IT WITH FLOWERS

    You can share in worship by sponsoring either flowers or the eternity candle for the Sunday of your choice in 2018. Stop by the Commons November 5, 12 or 19 or in the church office during the week to reserve your spot. The cost is $65 for each flower arrangement and $5 for the eternity candle.
