    We are excited to welcome Dr. Margaret Nikol as guest musician and speaker on July 22. Violinist Dr. Nikol will be playing as well as sharing her powerful testimony of escaping persecution in communist Bulgaria during the 1980s. Come hear her story of commitment to her faith and her music during the 9:30 and 10:50 am Sanctuary services.


    Blood Drive - July 22

    The Blood Drive will be July 22 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. They will be located in the parking lot outside the Children’s Wing. Sign up in the Commons on July 22. Give the gift of life!

    Bowling For Hope: Fundraiser For 1960 Hope Center - Saturday July 28

    Join Lakewood UMC as we form bowling teams for the 2nd annual Bowling for Hope on Saturday, July 28! This event benefits 1960 Hope Center Houston, a place of hope for the homeless population in our local area. If you are interested in being on a team, download forms here


    Coupon Ministry

    We are blessed to have a very dedicated Coupon Ministry. This special group of people gets together at 1:30 pm in the LUMC library on the 3rd Thursday of every month to clip coupons that in turn get sent to military families. Coupons are collected in the church office and the Children’s Wing hallway. The military still allows usage up to 6 months past expiration, so expired coupons are okay! Interested in joining?     Gamers

    Come have fun with Gamers! This group of seniors gets together each Thursday at 1:00 pm in the Sanctuary choir room. Join them for fellowship, games, and coffee.


    The Houston West Emmaus Community 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament - October 1

    REGISTER

    Join us for a Charity Golf Tournament from the Houston West Emmaus Community at Pine Forest Country Club in Houston, TX. Proceeds from the tournament will be used to continue the lower costs for pilgrims, support our scholarship program, purchase equipment for the facility and continue to support Chrysalis, which is similar to the Walk to Emmaus specifically designed for teenagers. The tournament will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at the beautiful Pine Forest Country Club at 18003 Clay Rd between Hwy 6 North and Barker-Cypress. The range will be open at 11:00am and lunch will be served at 11:30am before the 1:15pm Shotgun start. You are also invited to join us for a wonderful Dinner and Awards Ceremony starting at 6:15pm.     Prayers & Squares Quilting Ministry

    Days for Girls (see photo at left)

    Sustainable hygiene care solutions + social enterprise training = dignity, health and opportunity for Every Girl. Everywhere. Period. Providing hygiene kits to girls adds 2 years to their education that they would otherwise miss. This ministry meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 1:00 pm in the Loft and works to provide health and hygiene kits for girls around the world.     Stephen Ministry

    Stephen Ministers are trained members of our congregation that provide emotional and spiritual support to those dealing with a crisis or difficult time.     Second Family

    The Second Family Care Team at LUMC is recruiting new members to join their team! Second Family offers home-centered support with fellowship and practical help to people facing chronic illness, injury, loneliness, and respite for their care-givers. This growing and dynamic team, led by team leaders John McKenty and Patricia Hughes, has served with dedication since its inception.     Children's Sunday - July 29

    Come be a part of Children's Sunday July 29 at 10:50 am in Asbury Hall. This will be a special New Song service designed around families worshiping together. Children's Ministries Director Mingo Williamson will preach about “Who We Are In Christ.” All children who attended VBS will be invited to wear their VBS t-shirt and participate in singing their favorite VBS songs at the beginning of the service. Explore and Elevate will not meet that day, so that all of our amazing volunteers can enjoy a worship service with their families as well! Childcare will be available for infants and toddlers.     Summer Bash: Ultimate Scavenger Hunt - July 26 from 12:30 - 5:00 pm! We'll leave from the church as soon as VBS is over to caravan to The Galleria. Bring money to eat at the food court when we get there. We'll use the scavenger hunt app, GooseChase, to complete missions and tally points of the three teams. 


    Wednesday Nights: Join us each Wednesday for Intern Hang Time from 4:00 - 6:00 pm, followed by The Well worship time from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. We will not meet on July 4 - enjoy family time for Independence Day! We will also not meet July 18 due to our UM ARMY mission trip.
