Um Army

UM ARMY is approaching fast!  The programs team sent out their email to the whole camp last week to clue you in on what to pack and how to participate in the theme night activities.  You can also view it HERE But there are a few details you need to know as a Lakewood member...

LOADING TOOL/LUGGAGE TRUCK

MANDATORY: Pack and Load is on Sunday, July 15th at 8:30 am.  Meet in the back parking lot at the Asbury loading dock. You need to bring everything that you don't need on the car ride to Richmond...which should be pretty much everything since the car ride is less than an hour. We will also pack our tools and supplies from the attic.

COMMISSIONING

All of those attending UM ARMY will be commissioned at both 10:50am services Sunday, July 15th.    We will be recognized and prayed over in the Sanctuary first and then walk to Asbury Hall to be commissioned there.  Please meet us in the commons at 10:45 so we can gather and sit together.

DEPARTURE

Meet at Lakewood at 2 pm on Sunday, July 15th.  Meet at the Jones Rd. entrance. All your luggage will already be heading to Richmond on the tool truck from that morning, so only bring things you need for the car ride and your medication (see info below).

WHAT TO BRING

View your packing list HERE. Please pay special attention to the tool list. Every item on the list is important to ensuring a safe and enjoyable week. Label everything!

Bring money for a few Sonic runs during the week after a long day’s work, plus some for dinner out on Friday night. All those who owe a registration balance or still need to fill out a form will be contacted in another email.

MEDICATION

All medications must be listed on release form, be in their original container and placed in a ziplock bag to turn into the Church representative on Sunday at the departure time.

Please fill out MEDICATION FORM attached to this email.

Important update:  For the safety of all our students, we are implementing a new policy that will require adults to turn in all their medication during check-in/departure time along with students.  All medications will be kept safe, out of reach of students, and handled by our designated safety people at UM ARMY.  If you have any concerns or questions we will discuss this further during our adult leader meeting at noon on Sunday, July 8th in the café.

CELL PHONES POLICY

Cell phones and other electronics are not allowed at UM ARMY. Please help us with this by making your student(s) leave these at home. At check in on Sunday July 15th, students will be required to either:

1. Turn their cell phone in to student ministry staff OR

2. Give their cell phone to their parent in front of our check-in staff

Cell phones can distract from God’s movement during the week and therefore should be left at home. If there is an emergency, you will be able to get a hold of your student at any of the numbers below.

COMMUNICATION

We will keep you updated about camp through email and social media (facebook and instagram @LUMCSM). In the event of an emergency staff can be reached at:

It's going to be a great week. Go ahead and start getting hydrated now!!! And pray for all those attending (including those from Tapp UMC in New Boston and St. Marks UMC in Houston and those joining us from Chillicothe, MO for the week), pray for our host church (Faith UMC), and pray for all the amazing homeowners we will get to meet in Richmond, Rosenburg, and the surrounding area.

Have a great day!
