Children's Choirs - His To Own
All children’s choirs meet Sunday mornings from 8:25am to 9:20am beginning in September and continuing through May.
The Children’s choir program is an important and vital ministry at Lakewood UMC. Participants not only gain musical skills, but learn to become active participants in worship. There are choral opportunities for children K-6. Through involvement in our children’s choirs, singers will:
We TEACH them how to sing tunefully with good vocal quality and reading skills.
We TRAIN them as worship leaders by preparing anthems, leading the congregation in worship. We are building tomorrow's church choirs.
- We ENHANCE their Christian education through the scriptures, praise and prayer time.
- We OFFER opportunities to learn firsthand about serving God by using their musical gifts, talents and time. They bless others and glorify God.
- We DEVELOP poise and self-confidence. The unity of choral singing not only builds upon these qualities, but produces long-term benefits that will eventually transfer to all areas of life.
- We NURTURE the development of good, solid Christian friendships.
For more information about our any of the children's choirs, please contact Susan Shipman.
The Creekside Carolers
(Elementary children in K through 2nd grade)
At the early elementary level, children in this choir learn about fundamental musical concepts and begin to develop healthy vocal technique. In addition to learning songs, we will spend time emphasizing basic music reading skills though games and activities. We also discuss song text/bible verses and how they apply to daily life. Carolers perform in service once per month and combine with the Living Waters to present both a Christmas and spring musical. Cheryl Strain and Kathy Falknor direct the Creekside Carolers.
