This year, we will meet in the Faith Center parking lot, in our cars, to participate in our Blessing of the Backpacks and Devices. Come worship and pray with us as we prepare to enter a new school year!
*Regretfully, we will not have access into the building due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Matzke School Supply Donations Needed!
We’re collecting school supplies for Matzke classrooms! Bring any of the following items with you to the Back to School Vigil and Blessing of the Backpack Service, and we will collect them from your cars before the service:
1” white 3 ring binders
Poly folders, 2 pockets & brads – all primary colors
Wide ruled Composition notebooks – any color
Thank you for helping us to support Matzke Elementary, especially during the upcoming school year!
Monday, August 10 - Sunday, August 16
God works through prayer. Starting Monday, August 10 and continuing through 7 days until Sunday, August 16, we will be praying for the coronavirus and the different ways it impacts our lives and community. Follow along on Facebook & Instagram for specific prayer requests for each day. God is listening!
Lakewood plans to send a team back to UMCOR’s Sager Brown Depot from November 1-6, 2020. Sager Brown cancelled all teams over the last several months, but is planning to open up again in September. So we are very hopeful that a Lakewood team will be able to go there in November and be a small part of what God is doing through Sager Brown. There will be an informational meeting held on August 16 at 1:00 PM via ZOOM. If you would like to participate in this meeting please email Jack Aulick at email@example.com to get the link for this meeting.
In this time of social distancing, there are many others even more isolated due to health, loss of loved ones, or those with visitation restrictions. We are asking people of all ages to adopt one of these isolated individuals by writing letters, making cards, or drawing pictures. Mary Katherine Muse and the Flower Ministry Team will provide a name and address to you. If you are interested please email Beth Parnell. This new ministry, Caring Connections, will be meaningful to both the giver and the receiver.
We are collecting new coloring books and any little dollar store items, such as balls, stickers, etc., to make “goodie bags” for children of families picking up food bags from the church.
We are making Manna bags for our homeless community. The items we need are:
bottled water, napkin/cutlery packet, tuna pouch, can meat (ex. Vienna sausage), bag of chips, bag of cookies, granola/fruit bar (soft please), fruit cup, peanut butter or cheese crackers.
If you would to donate any of these items to the church, please bring them between 10 am - 2 pm, Monday-Friday. Thank you for all of your support!
