Latest Update    I     January 6, 2021

Dear Lakewood Family and Friends,

Christmas Eve and Advent at Lakewood this year were unique in every sense of the word. We provided a live-streamed Jazz Concert featuring our own Fellowship of the Swing Jazz Ensemble. Our choir performed an outstanding online Christmas Cantata. We continued to provide online worship services through our newly installed live-streaming equipment. All of these opportunities were so special for us to participate in together as a congregation. On Christmas Eve, in addition to our online worship, we had the joy of worshipping together in our parking lot. While many of you worshipped from the warmth of your cars, our musicians and pastors lead worship from a rented stage. While it was different than any Christmas Eve we’ve celebrated together before, it was a beautiful way to close out this disorienting and strange year with a message of hope and joy.

We had hoped to continue to offer worship services in our parking lot over the next several weeks using the rented stage. However, several heavy rainstorms in the week after Christmas significantly damaged the stage. We made some quick repairs in order to provide outdoor worship on January 3rd, but after further inspection, it became apparent the stage is not safe for use. Therefore, we will be unable to worship together in the parking lot this Sunday, January 10th. We will be considering our options for future Sundays so please stay tuned.

Going forward, we will continue to provide high quality live-streamed worship with a 9:30 AM Traditional Service and a 10:50 AM New Song Contemporary Service. Be sure to check your e-mails, our website, and our Facebook page for more information about virtual worship on Sunday!

This Sunday, we will be celebrating holy communion in both of our livestreamed worship services, so please be sure to pick up your communion elements for online worship this afternoon, January 6th from 5:00-6:00 PM in our parking lot!

We miss you, we love you, and are looking forward to returning in-person with you as soon as we safely can!
