Lakewood Disaster Readiness Team (DRT)
We Need Your Help Now! Hurricane Laura brought a catastrophic storm surge and flash flooding to SW Louisiana and thousands were impacted. They will need our help and prayers to recover.
Since Harvey we have worked and learned how best to cooperate with many community agencies and efforts, we are committed to mucking and gutting work as need requires. If you would like to be trained and volunteer for the DRT email Pastor Pam Cline at email@example.com .
Lakewood Caring Connections
In this time of social distancing, there are many others even more isolated due to health, loss of loved ones, or those with visitation restrictions. We are asking people of all ages to adopt one of these isolated individuals by writing letters, making cards, or drawing pictures. Mary Katherine Muse and the Flower Ministry Team will provide a name and address to you. If you are interested please email Beth Parnell. This new ministry, Caring Connections, will be meaningful to both the giver and the receiver.
Manna bags for our homeless friends have been assembled by the Lakewood’s Men’s Group. They will be available for you to pick up at church on Sunday morning or at the church office. Please pick up a bag to keep in your car to hand out to any homeless person you see on the streets. Inside are non-perishable food items & water. We are also accepting love-offerings.
Matthew 25:35 Food Pantry
Because of your generosity, the Matthew 25:35 Food Pantry has been able to provide so many families with food during the Corona pandemic. The pantry is still in need of a few items: cans of chili, canned beans (all kinds) peanut butter (small and large containers), pancake syrup, rice-a-roni, canned spaghetti/ravioli.
NAM (Northwest Assistance Ministries)
Our food inventory is getting dangerously low!
NAM has seen a continuous increase in requests for food. We need truck loads of food donations. Our community needs NAM during this time of public health crisis, and NAM needs your help to continue its work of "Neighbors Helping Neighbors".
Food Donations Needed for NAM:
Cereal, Dry Beans, Canned Tuna, Canned Green Beans, Canned Corn, Canned Ravioli
Canned Fruit, Canned Spaghetti O's, Pasta Sauce, Tomato Sauce, Jelly, Peanut Butter
Stewed Tomatoes, Canned Beans (pinto beans, black beans, kidney beans, etc.)
Rice, Frozen meats (chicken, turkey, beef, pork)
Donations can be dropped off at NAM's Joanne Watford Nutrition Center, located at 15555 Kuykendahl Rd., Monday - Friday, between 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
As always, I am happy to pick up any donations from the church or from member's homes. I volunteer at NAM every week and will be happy to deliver them to the NAM Food Pantry. ~Pat Davis
