Quilts go to people with illness, a death in the family, to the military, people in hospital, new births, students in confirmation, and more. The quilts go all over the world and share God’s love. The United Methodist Women (UMW) at Lakewood UMC is a dynamic group of women of all ages dedicated to the missions of women and children, as well as fellowship with one another. Our local unit supports many local ministries; Bible and mission studies; coordinate the church-wide garage sale; and hold an annual women's retreat. We also support local and international missions. UMW President Mary Sue Lipham would be happy to answer any general questions about our local UMW unit.

Our unit is organized into circles, or small groups, which meet monthly from September through May. The General Meetings for all members are held in January (installation of officers, special mission recognition and certificate awards), Fall Membership Event, and November (World Thank Offering and mailing of care packages to our military personnel and college students). Our year also includes directing the Alternative Gifts Market throughout the year.
