Spread some sunshine with members of our flower ministry by delivering flowers to
homebound members of our congregation on Sunday, September 15, after each service.
Flowers will be ready for delivery on tables in the hall between the Commons and the Education Wing.
Contact beth.parnell@lakewoodumc.org for more information.
HOPE Mat Ministry
At Noon in the Loft on Sunday, September 15, we will be making comfort mats for our homeless brothers
and sisters. Hope mats are waterproof, sturdy, can dry easily in the sun, and they create a barrier of
comfort for those living on the street. Mats are 100% made from recycled plastic grocery bags.
For more information, to donate, or to volunteer, contact Patty Henson at patty.henson@lakewoodumc.org.
Love Letters
At Noon in Founders Court on Sunday, September 15, we will be writing letters of encouragement
to teachers at Matzke Elementary School. All are welcome to drop in and drop a line of thanks to
those who serve our community. Contact Patty Beatty at pabeatty@att.net for more information.
Rise Against Hunger
You can help by participating in this project to prepare 10,000 individual meals to be distributed to those in need in third world nations. This project will take place in Asbury Hall directly after the New Song service at Noon on Sunday, September 15, and is open to all ages (children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent). Sponsored by our Table Groups and 20s I 30s ministries, participants will take bulk quantities of food and bag them into individual servings. While the main project is expected to take about two hours, we also need a few strong folks before the event to help transfer the bulk food from the loading dock to the work tables.
Troop Goody Boxes
Prayers & Squares Quilt Ministry will be preparing troop goody boxes as a part of Weekend of Service.
Select items to donate by picking up a flyer in the Commons with specific "goodies" listed.
Drop-off boxes are located throughout the church; donations are due by September 8.
Have family or friends in the military? Email ruby.samuelson@sbcglobal.net with their name and address.
Also, please join us on September 15 in the Commons as we stuff boxes for our troops.
